Rally for a Cure
Rally for the CureŽ, in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Golf For Women magazine, is a grassroots golf program dedicated to spreading awareness in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Rally brings the breast cancer awareness message to women golfers, and its events provide the platform for special fundraising opportunities for Komen for the Cure.
Each player for the day makes a contribution for "Rally for a Cure" in lieu of our $3 weekly contribution for prizes. In addition to getting a one-year subscription to Golf For Women magazine, each player gets information/favors related to breast cancer awareness and prevention. There are also some special prizes for the day's competition.
All breast cancer survivors receive special recognition, and players enjoy refreshments after play.
In 2008, we will have special recognition at our Rally for a Cure tournament in memory of one of our former members, Bobbie Huston who passed away in the fall of 2007 from pancreatic cancer. She was a double mastectomy survivor, and left some funds for us to use for fun with our membership. The 18 Hole Association was very special to her, as she was to us. She will be missed, but not forgotten.
